UNI’s STORY

Uni deserves to finally, finally receive her chance at a forever, and we can make that happen with your help.

Do you remember when we put out a call for a fospice home for sweet Uni? She was diagnosed with what we thought was terminal cancer, but we have since been presented with a life-saving surgery that will give her a chance at the life that she deserves - the same life that has been continuously taken from her.

Uni was used for breeding. Once her body could no longer produce puppies, she was dumped on the streets and left for dead. She was just skin and bones, and our rescue team in Puerto Rico didn’t know if she would survive her recovery. (See pictures)

After months of specialized care, Uni began to gain weight. Her coat started growing back. And all through it, she loved on all of the people around her. She's the waggiest and sweetest little girl. Her will to live and her unconditional loving of humans, even though she suffered greatly at the hands of them, shows everyone how pure her heart is. We fell in love with her hard and fast.

She recovered and gained weight, and she was finally ready to find her home here in NYC. She received a final physical by the vet, as all dogs do before their transport, and that is when they found the cancerous mammory tumor that was deemed terminal.

We were absolutely heartbroken that she would never get the life she deserves.

But now, thanks to our incredible friends at Animal Specialty Center in NYC, she can have life-saving surgery that will remove the cancer. Afterward, she will have an incredible prognosis to live a full and happy life. Finally.

But here’s where we need your help: her surgery is $4,500 (after our rescue discount). It will save her life and give her the chance she deserves, but we need help to pay the bill. She’s worth every penny, and we know our ALR community agrees with that. Please help us save Uni. Thank you in advance for helping us give Uni the second chance she so deserves.
